📤 Uploading documents
Redokun lets you upload a wide range of document types to begin your translation process. This guide walks you through what you should review before uploading to ensure the best translation experience.
⚠️ Only users with a Manager role can upload documents. Translator accounts do not have permission to perform this action.
âś… Best Practices Before You Upload
To ensure a smooth translation experience, we recommend reviewing the following:
- Check text segmentation settings: Proper segmentation improves AI translation quality or prioritises Translation Memory reuse. Learn more about segmentation →
- Use editable file formats: Make sure your content is not locked or flattened. Text should be selectable and editable.
- Clean up your original file: Remove extra spaces, special characters, or unnecessary formatting that could affect translation or tag visibility.

đź“‚ How to Upload One or More Documents
- Go to your Document List (or the folder where you want to upload your document)
- Click Upload Document in the top-right corner.
- Drag and drop your file(s), or click Browse files to upload manually.
- During this step, you can also choose where to place the uploaded documents.
- Click Continue once the upload is complete.
- On the Languages screen, choose the source language of your documents and one or more target languages. Use the search bar or scroll the list to find a language; you can add several at once.

- To remove a language from a specific file, click the x icon next to that language.
- On the Invite team screen, add translators and reviewers for each target language. Select someone you've worked with before, or enter a new email address to invite them. They'll receive an invitation to join Redokun. You can invite your team now, or skip this step and do it later.

- Click Continue or Skip for now to proceed with your workflow.
That’s it! Your documents are now ready to be translated in Redokun. All assigned translators will be automatically notified about their new task.
❗ What to Do If You Get an Error or Your File Doesn’t Upload
If you encounter an issue during upload, try the following steps:
- Check the file size: Ensure the file is within Redokun’s upload limits (max 100 MB and 50,000 segments). You can find guides to reduce the size of your files here:
- Try saving the document with a new name and upload it again.
- Contact support@redokun.com. If possible, include:
- The file you’re trying to upload
- A screenshot of the error message you’re seeing
