How to reduce the size of a PPTX file?
If you cannot upload a PowerPoint file because its size exceeds the upload limit, you can follow the instruction below to reduce the file size.
Here are three things you can do:
- Compress pictures in your presentation;
- Delete image editing data and lower default resolution;
- Reduce the character set of embedded fonts.
Compress pictures in your presentation
- Select a picture in your document. The
Picture Format
will tab appear. - On the
Picture Format
tab, under theAdjust
group, selectCompress Pictures
. - Under
Compression options
:- Make sure that
Apply only to this picture
is not selected. - Select
Delete cropped areas of pictures
. - Under
Resolution
, SelectUse default resolution
.
- Make sure that

Ok

Delete image editing data and lower default resolution
- Go to
File
>Options
>Advanced
. - Under
Image Size and Quality
:- Select
Discard editing data
. - Make sure that
Do not compress images in file
is not selected. - In
Default resolution
, select 150ppi or a lower value.

Reduce the character set of embedded fonts
- Go to
File
>Options
>Save

Preserve fidelity when sharing this presentation
:- Select
Embed fonts in the file
. - Then select
Embed only the characters used in the presentation
