π€ Translate with ChatGPT by OpenAI in Redokun
Weβre excited to introduce the OpenAI (ChatGPT) integration in Redokun! This guide explains how to try it, what to expect, and how you can help us improve the experience.
π Whatβs New?
Redokun now supports ChatGPT by OpenAI as a third AI translation engine in the Pre-Translate feature, alongside DeepL and Google Translate.
OpenAI (ChatGPT) offers:
- Use ChatGPT for context-aware and nuanced translations, ideal for marketing content and messages where tone matters
- Fine-tune translations directly in the web editor with AI assistance, giving you greater control and flexibility over the final text
ποΈ Who has access to the ChatGPT integration?
Access to ChatGPT is available to:
- β Users on Basic and Premium plans
- β Not available to users on Legacy Basic or Legacy Premium plans
To check which plan youβre on:
- Click on your name in the top-right corner.
- Go to Settings > Current Plan.
The ChatGPT integration will remain available on legacy plans until September 18. To continue using it after that date, youβll need to upgrade to one of the new plans.
βοΈ How to disable ChatGPT
Once released, ChatGPT will be turned on by default for all eligible accounts.
To deactivate it:
- Log in with the Team Owner (admin) account.
- Click on your name in the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Go to Advanced.
- Under AI Features, deactivate "OpenAI (ChatGPT) functionalities".
π How to Use OpenAI (ChatGPT) in Pre-Translate
- Go to your document in Redokun.
- Click Pre-Translate.
- In the language selection panel, check the box under AI Machine Translation.
Select OpenAI (ChatGPT) as your translation engine from the dropdown and click Continue.
- Select a tone of voice for the translation:
- Neutral (default): Clean and accurate, without added tone or style.
- Friendly: Warm and engaging β for marketing, newsletters, etc.
Formal: Polished and professional β for legal or business content.
- Start the Pre-Translate process.
Thatβs it! Redokun will translate the document using OpenAI (ChatGPT).
β¨ AI Fine-Tuning in the Web Editor
AI Fine-Tuning lets you instantly improve or adjust translations without leaving the Web Editor. You can:
- Fix spelling and grammar β Correct mistakes and improve sentence structure.
- Suggest different alternatives β Get reworded options to choose from.
- Make it shorter β Condense text without losing meaning.
For step-by-step instructions, see the full guide: AI Fine-Tuning.
Note: Available on the latest Basic and Premium plans (Legacy plan users have temporary access until September 18). AI Fine-Tuning uses your AI translation credits.
β What Happens to My Data?
When you use AI translation in Redokun (e.g., Pre-Translate or Web Editor suggestions), your content is temporarily sent to a third-party translation engine. These engines are used only to generate the translation.
All of our providers explicitly state in their Terms of Service that:
- They do not use your data for training their models.
- The content is used exclusively to return the requested translation.
Most of our providers do not store the content you send.
However, for providers like OpenAI, your content may be securely retained for up to 30 days to deliver the service and monitor for abuse. After 30 days, API inputs and outputs are deleted from their systems, unless they are legally required to keep them longer.
π Usage and Word Count
- AI Translation quota is deducted when using OpenAI (ChatGPT).
- Word count is deducted when downloading a translated document.
