We’re excited to introduce the beta version of OpenAI (ChatGPT) integration in Redokun! This guide explains how to try it, what to expect, and how you can help us improve the experience.
🚀 What’s New?
Redokun now supports ChatGPT by OpenAI as a third AI translation engine in the Pre-Translate feature, alongside DeepL and Google Translate.
OpenAI (ChatGPT) offers:
- More context-aware and nuanced translations
- Great for marketing content and messages where tone matters
Currently, this is only available as a beta.

🧑‍💼 Available ONLY to users on Basic and Premium plans.
- Fill out the form to request beta access: Request Access to Beta
- Once enabled, OpenAI (ChatGPT) will be available for your entire account.
- Use it in the Pre-Translate workflow just like DeepL or Google Translate.
🗝️ Who will have access once ChatGPT is released?
Access to ChatGPT will be available to:
- âś… Users on Basic and Premium plans
- ❌ Not available to users on Legacy Basic or Legacy Premium plans
To check which plan you’re on:
- Click on your name in the top-right corner.
- Go to Settings > Current Plan.
🧠Why Is This in Beta?
We believe OpenAI (ChatGPT) has strong potential to improve translation quality—especially for content where tone and nuance matter. However, we’re still:
- Testing performance across a wide range of content and languages
- Gathering real-world feedback
- Working on important features like glossary and tone control
This beta phase is essential to help us uncover and fix edge cases, and improve quality output before a full release.
Your testing—on the types of content you translate—helps us move faster toward a stable, powerful feature that delivers the best results possible for your use case.
đź“… We're aiming to release this feature to all accounts by the end of July 2025, but the timeline may shift slightly as we finalize development. Once released, ChatGPT will be turned on by default (see below for how to deactivate it).
⚙️ How to disable ChatGPT (coming soon)
Once released, ChatGPT will be turned on by default for all eligible accounts.
To deactivate it:

🧪 How You Can Help

Please:
- Use OpenAI (ChatGPT) on real documents, including large or complex ones.
- Try different language pairs and content types (marketing, legal, etc.).
- Report any issues or feedback here: Give Feedback on the Beta
✅ If everything works well, we’d love to hear that too — just reply to the email you received.

- Click Pre-Translate.
- In the language selection panel, check the box under AI Machine Translation.
Select OpenAI (ChatGPT) as your translation engine from the dropdown and click Continue.

That’s it! Redokun will translate the document using OpenAI (ChatGPT).
🛠️ Coming soon: Redokun will remember your last used AI engine (ChatGPT, DeepL, or Google Translate).

âś… What Happens to My Data?
When you use AI translation in Redokun (e.g., Pre-Translate or Web Editor suggestions), your content is temporarily sent to a third-party translation engine. These engines are used only to generate the translation.
All of our providers explicitly state in their Terms of Service that:
- They do not use your data for training their models.
- The content is used exclusively to return the requested translation.
Most of our providers do not store the content you send.
However, for providers like OpenAI, your content may be securely retained for up to 30 days to deliver the service and monitor for abuse. After 30 days, API inputs and outputs are deleted from their systems, unless they are legally required to keep them longe
