🗑️ Delete empty text frames in InDesign
When translating an InDesign file with Redokun, you might skip some paragraphs that are not needed in the target language. As a result, the translated file may contain empty text frames that you no longer need.
This script helps you quickly delete all empty text frames in your document.
📥 Download the script
- Download it here: delete-empty-text-frames-1.1.jsxbin
- Current version: v1.03
⚙️ How to install and run the script
To learn how to install and run a script in InDesign, follow this guide:
Once installed, double-click the script in the Scripts panel. You’ll see the following options:
- Delete all empty: Deletes all empty text frames.
- Delete also Text Frames containing invisible characters (e.g., spaces, returns, etc.): Deletes frames that contain only whitespace or invisible characters.
Select your preferred option and click OK. The script will then process the document accordingly.
⚠️ Important considerations
- Scope: The script processes the entire document. Save your work before using it.
- Irreversible: Deleting text frames cannot be undone. Create a backup first.
- Target: The script only affects text frames. Graphic frames and other objects are ignored.
