❓ Why wasn't a 100% Translation Memory match applied during Pre-Translate?
When using Redokun's Pre-Translate feature, you might expect segments with 100% matches in your Translation Memory to be automatically applied and confirmed. However, there are instances where this doesn't happen. Here's why:
🔍 Understanding Pre-Translate's Matching Criteria
Redokun's Pre-Translate function applies translations from your TM only when there's an exact match. This means:
- Exact Text Match: The source segment must match the TM entry character-for-character, including spaces, punctuation, and formatting tags.
- Contextual Match (Optional): If you've enabled the option to consider context, the surrounding segments must also match exactly.
If there's even a minor discrepancy—such as an extra space, different formatting tag, or a line break—the system won't apply the TM match automatically. Instead, it may:
- Leave the segment untranslated.
- Insert an AI-generated translation (if AI Translation is enabled), marked as Draft for your review.
✅ How to address this
- Review the segment: In the Web Editor, click on the segment to view available TM suggestions.
- Compare differences: Check for subtle differences between the current segment and the TM suggestion, such as extra spaces or formatting tags.
- Apply the desired translation: If the TM suggestion is appropriate, click on it to apply. Make any necessary adjustments.
- Confirm the segment: After ensuring accuracy, click Confirm translation to save it to your TM for future use.
