View and update your TMs with TM Manager

The terminology you use in your translations is very important.

Marketing departments, as well as technical ones, often struggle to retain the same style across different publications.

Redokun already helps you maintain greater consistency by storing your approved translations to suggest them for later use.

However, sometimes teams have a need to exercise  greater control over their terminology and translations. Redokun’s TM Manager is the ultimate solution for this need.

What can you do with TM Manager?

The TM Manager allows you to:

  • Search for words or sentences inside your translation memories
  • Get an overview of all occurrences of a segment found inside your documents
  • Edit a single occurrence within the same document
  • Edit all occurrences of a segment within the same document
  • Update all occurrences of a segment across all documents you have uploaded
  • Hide and Unhide suggestions

Search for words or sentences inside your TMs

  1. Go to Translation Memory in the top bar
  2. Click on TM Manager  to open the TM Manager
  3. In Search item, type a word or sentence
  4. Indicate if you are searching from the Source Language or Target Language
  5. Select the language pair
  6. Click on Search
  7. Redokun will list all the matches found in your Translation Memory (TM).

Get an overview of all occurrences of a segment found inside your documents

  1. Search for text segments inside your TMs (Follow the instructions in β€œSearch for words/sentences inside your TMs”).
  2. Click on the button # occurrences to list all the occurrences of your search query found in both your documents and imported TM files.
  3. From the list of occurrences, you can open the document and go to the page where the first occurrence can be found by clicking on Go to first segment. There, you will be able to edit its translation.

πŸ—£οΈ If the same text segment is used in more pages, you would be able to jump to the next page where the next occurrence can be found.

Edit a single occurrence within the same document

  1. Follow the instructions in β€œGet an overview of all occurrences of a segment found inside your documents”.
  2. Redokun will open the Web Editor and jump to where the occurrence is found.
  3. Edit the translation as you wish.

⚠️ If the document is locked, you need to unlock it before you can edit the translation.

Edit all occurrences of a segment within the same document

  1. Follow the instructions in β€œEdit a single occurrence within the same document”
  2. You may edit the translation of a text segment that occurs more than once in the same document. In this case, a pop up will appear asking if you want to apply the new translation to all identical segments found in the same document.
  3. Click Update to overwrite the existing translations of all identical occurrences.

Update all occurrences of a segment across all documents you have uploaded

Using the TM Manager, you can also apply a new translation to all identical occurrences across all your documents in just a few clicks.

  1. Search for text segments inside your TMs (Follow the instructions in β€œSearch for words/sentences inside your TMs”)
  2. Identify the translation you want to edit and click on Update
  3. Edit the sentence and then click Replace # occurrences
  4. The edited translation will be applied to all your documents both active and locked.

Hide and Unhide suggestions

From the TM Manager, you can hide and unhide translation suggestions by simply clicking on the Hide or Unhide button.

This feature is very helpful when you want to change the terminology in your documents while keeping the same translations from previously translated files.

Hidden suggestions will be highlighted in yellow.
