đź“‘ Changing document ownership

This guide explains how to transfer document ownership to another user in Redokun and what to expect when making this change.

🔄 What Happens When You Change Ownership

When you change the owner of a document:

  • The selected user becomes the new document owner.
  • The new owner gains full control over the document.
  • No changes are made to the document's content, folder, or assigned translators.
  • No notifications are sent to team members or translators.
  • All future system notifications related to the document—such as “translation completed” or “unlock requests”—will be directed to the new owner instead of the original one.

✅ You can change ownership at any time without affecting the document’s translation progress.

👤 How to Change the Owner of a Document

  2. Locate the document you want to update.
  3. Click the three-dots icon and select Settings.

  4. In the Document Owner dropdown, choose the new owner from the list.
  5. Click Save Changes to confirm.

📝 Notes and Limitations

  • Only users with a Manager role can change document ownership.
  • The new owner must also be a Manager.
  • Ownership changes are limited to users within your organization.

👥 Reassign Documents When Removing a Manager

If a manager is leaving your team and you want to transfer all their documents and folders at once, you can do this automatically by removing them from your Redokun team.

When you remove a manager:

  • All their documents and folders will be reassigned to the team owner.
  • This ensures no content is lost and keeps the workspace organized.
